Pride Month 2021
While it is celebratory, it is also a time to reflect on the past and future of the LGBTQIA+ community. Some quick stats, in 2021 it is still illegal or punishable by law to be gay in over 70 countries (over a third of the worlds population) in 2020, 350 trans people were murdered in the US & over half of LGBTQIA+ people say they have experienced depression in the last year. These are just a few facts.
So as much as pride is about celebration & appreciating how far we’ve come and remembering those who have got us to where we are today, we must continue the cause to make sure there is equality for all LGBTQIA+ people. Please take this month to raise awareness for a part of our community that needs a voice and needs to be free of repression.
