ENERGY - HANGZHOU CENTRE

FROM JUNE 2026

ENERGY sits at the centre, it's the life force of everything. Summer, as the midpoint of the yearly cycle, holds that same central position: a time of heightened joy, celebration, and positive energy. This installation channels that moment through eight large inflatable sculptures, using colour, movement, and typography to express that vitality. As our planet moves through its four seasons, the foundation of life and renewal, this work celebrates the optimism and energy found at the heart of that continuous cycle. The sculptures hope to reflect the interconnected ENERGY of the Earth and humanity. The colours and textures are abstract, drawing inspiration from Kris Andrew Small's home on Australia's east coast, while reflecting the contemporary energy and forward-thinking spirit of Hangzhou.

The marks my first major installation in China at and consists of 8 inflatable sculptures suspended from the atrium of Hangzhou Centre, Hangzhou.
